Full DescriptionWe access the house along the old Roman road which begins in Rome and was used to get to the south of Italy up until the end of the 1960's, a large stone paved driveway leads to the court of the house which is immersed in fruit, olive, oak and cypress trees.The house still has the old arrow slits that were made during the construction period to have a clear view of who was arriving from the sea and to have a more efficient defence against bandits as well as for airing the hay barns that were usually on the ground floor. The main building is on two independent floors each measuring 75 square meters plus an area beneath that measures 20 square meters. The ground floor consists of a kitchen with marble worktops, a chestnut table made from the old beams which seats 10 people and has double ceramic basins, from here we access a bathroom with a bath in it and a single bedroom via some glass doors. From this floor stairs lead up to the first floor which also has an independent entrance, the stairs lead into a kitchen with a big fireplace, double ceramic basins and a gas oven from here we go into a room which can either be used as a sitting room or as a bedroom, this room leads to a small shower room and a small storage room, a hallway leads to two bedrooms, the first is a single and the second is a double with 2 windows overlooking the courtyard and the sea. The double bedroom has an en-suite bathroom with a bath and a window overlooking the garden. From the ground floor a spiral staircase leads to a basement which also has independent access from outside, this room has all the fitting in place to become either a bathroom or a laundry room and is currently used as a cellar. The other building is only fifteen meters away from the main one but is situated higher up,the whole building is made out of stone. The ground floor which measures about 65 square meters and has a bedroom, a living room/kitchen, a laundry room or kitchen, a shower room. Most of the internal walls and an arch have been cleaned, but at the moment there is still no electricity, water, floors, shutters and accessories. At the back a covered terrace has been built which has stone columns, wooden beams and roof tiles, the flooring is “cotto” with a panel made of Vietri ceramic. The first floor was restored 5 years ago and is 40 square meters with a front door made of chestnut, cotto floors, kitchen with marble tops, double basin and electric oven, a double bedroom, a bathroom with majolica floors from Vietri and a large shower. Outside to one side is a courtyard of about 70 square meters that has not yet been tiled and stone walls. This apartment as well as the main house has independent gas heating and air conditioning in the bedroom. Outside this building is a small terrace area measuring about 5,40 square meters with stone pillars, wooden beams, roof tiles, “cotto” floor. Around the building there are various paved areas with gazebos. The ruins of an old furnace where dry figs were heated and of a toilet make you think of how the way of life used to be around this area, these two ruins can be rebuilt totalling an area of 40 square meters plus a covered veranda measuring 10 square meters and external shelters, for an overall total of 90 square meters to build an independent apartment. Within the hectare of land belonging to the house there is an area where a villa can be built,after having done all the urbanisation work, which has been partially done on the confining land. Footpaths run through the land and lead to an area that offers breathtaking views of the Paestum valley and of the sea. There is one hectare of land, within it are various fruit trees, including fig trees, vines and olives. Part of the land can be built on. There are various footpaths and outside sitting areas. There is a spring on the land that can be used for irrigation. |
