Of the some 75,000 inhabitants of the commune listed in the census statistics, grossly 60,000 live in the city proper: the remaining are distributed in several frazioni, including Marina di Grosseto, the biggest one, Roselle (cfr. infra), Principina a Mare, Montepescali, Braccagni, Istia d'Ombrone, Batignano and Alberese.

Getting There
By Car: 
(Rented at airport). Pitigliano can be reached by taking the motorway A1 (Autostrada del Sole) and leaving at the Orvieto exit, then the SS1 (Aurelia) or SS2 (Cassia).
By Air: 

British Airways, www.britishairways.com flies to Rome Fiumicino (from where Pitigliano can be reached in about two hours); Ryan Air, www.ryanair.com flies to Pisa (three hours) and Meridiana, www.meridiana.it to Firenze-Peretola
(two and a quarter hours).
