Saadi Gaddafi, the third son of the Libyan leader, has been ordered by an Italian court to pay a €392,000 [$494,000 or £327,118] hotel bill from 2008.

At the time, Saadi Gaddafi was a professional footballer in Italy - he played two matches in the country - and he stayed at the Grand Excelsior Hotel in Rapallo [Liguria] for about 40 days, accompanied by a retinue of staff including a personal trainer and a dog trainer.

The group left the hotel without paying the bill although Mr Gaddafi did sign for it. They left behind a black SUV which is still in the hotel’s car park.

Corriere della Sera reports that the hotel contacted the Libyan Embassy in Italy before taking legal action, only to be told that the Embassy would not pay the bill unless instructed to do so by the Libyan government.

The Embassy had paid previous bills on behalf of Saadi Gaddafi.
The court also ordered Mr Gaddafi, who is now said to be concentrating on a career in the film industry, to pay costs of €5,000 [$6,369 or £4,172].

Do you think the Embassy should pay the bill?

...the nerve of the Italian

...the nerve of the Italian legal system to make that pooooor silver-spooned-fed
pay for his bill!? The Italian judicial system thinks is above that pooor "figlio the mamma'." Afterall, the hotel had the pleasure to have his presence in the 40 days of stay! Well lest give him a break, charge him x10. There we go everything is now resolved!!!
