This video of Italian TV personalities dancing to the World Cup anthem “Waka Waka” has excited some strong feelings: called the “VIP Version”, it has been dubbed the “trash version” by some of the media.

In the video, personalities who have appeared in shows like “Grande Fratello” [“Big Brother”] “Uomini e donne” [“Men and Women”, a match-making show] and “La Pupa e il secchione” [ a version of “Beauty and the Geek”] dance to Shakira’s hit.
A homage to the song or a publicity stunt?
“As if what they have offered us in the first seven months of 2010 on TV isn’t enough”, groans the online men’s magazine QNM, “the stars of the worst shows on Italian TV have got together for one purpose: to take advantage of the popularity of the bane of the summer, Waka Waka, to be seen again.”
