7 Helpful Tips to Surviving in the Jungle

Your survival in a jungle is not child’s play, but rather a matter of life and death.

You need to have skills to make it safe and soundly through the rough environment, and most importantly alive.

This article offers some of the best tips to help you survive in the jungle.

1. Always Have a Plan in Mind

You could be in the jungle for quite some time – days, maybe weeks.

For you to survive, you need to know what exactly you are in for.

Make sure you get some information about your environment.

For example, are there any harmful animals? Is there a source of water nearby?

Knowing such things will help increase your chances of survival.

2. Create a Comfortable Place for Yourself

Without all the conveniences you are used to, the jungle is definitely not home away from home.

However, there are ways you can make yourself comfortable.

You can start by making sure that your current settling place is as comfortable as possible.

Collect twigs and create a fire to keep yourself warm during the cold nights.

3. Make Sure You Have Something to Eat

The presence of wild animals is the norm rather than the exception when you are in the jungle.

If you have a gun, you may be tempted to use to hunt for food.

However, this should not be the case.

Firearms should only be for protection.

A firearm will greatly increase your chances of survival when you are in the jungle.

If possible, eat edible plants and wild berries.

If there is a stream or river nearby, try fishing.

4. Be Cautious of Where You Walk

The jungle is full trees that also serve as homes for dangerous snakes.

If you are taking a walk, make sure you are cautious of your steps.

Because the jungle is full of thickets, you can try using a stick to create a path for yourself as well as to scare away small animals.

5. Mind Your Clothing

It is important that you take care of your body when you are in the jungle.

Remember that you are in the wild and there are insects and bugs, such as mosquitoes, waiting and ready to feast on you.

It is for this reason you should have protective clothing; clothes that will not only protect you from insects but also keep you warm.

6. Maintain Cleanliness

Find a permanent water source as mentioned earlier where you could be cleaning your clothes and for bathing.

Boil your drinking water to avoid water-borne diseases.

7. Be Assertive & Make Gestures For Rescue

Just because you are lost in the jungle, does not mean you should just give up.

Look for ways of connecting with anyone who will have a hint of coming to look for you.

Light fires if you can.

However, do so in an open ground to avoid bush fires.

Fires are most efficient because they emit smoke and thus can be visible from far.
